on Windows

Follow these simple steps to install NovaBridgeVPN safely on Windows 10 or 11. The process takes less than 2 minutes.

Why does Windows show a security warning?

NovaBridgeVPN is a new app and has not yet received a Microsoft digital certificate. Windows SmartScreen shows warnings for all new unsigned software — this does not mean the app is dangerous. Follow the steps below to install safely.

Step-by-step installation

Download the installer

Click the download button above. If Chrome blocks the download — look for the download in the bottom bar or top-right Downloads icon, click the warning arrow → Keep. If Microsoft Edge shows a warning bar saying the file "is not commonly downloaded", click the ... menu next to the warning, then click Keep, then Keep anyway.

Run the installer

Open the downloaded file NovaBridgeVPN-Setup-v1.1.0.exe. If a blue Windows SmartScreen popup appears saying "Windows protected your PC", do not close it.

Click "More info" then "Run anyway"

On the SmartScreen popup, click More info (small text near the bottom left). A new button will appear — click Run anyway. The installer will now launch normally.

Allow administrator access

A UAC prompt will appear asking "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Click Yes. This is required to install the VPN service and set up the network tunnel.

Installation completes automatically

The installer will automatically set up OpenVPN, the Visual C++ Runtime, the NovaBridgeVPN service, and all required components. NovaBridgeVPN will launch automatically when complete. The whole process takes about 60 seconds.

Common issues & fixes

Antivirus flags the installer as a virus

This is a false positive. NovaBridgeVPN is safe software — antivirus programs sometimes flag new, unsigned applications incorrectly. To fix this:

  1. Open your antivirus software
  2. Go to Settings → Exclusions (or similar)
  3. Add the installer file or C:\Program Files\NovaBridgeVPN\ to exclusions
  4. Re-download and run the installer
  5. Alternatively, temporarily disable real-time protection during installation only

Error: MSVCP140.dll or VCRUNTIME140.dll not found

This means the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime is missing from your PC. The v1.1.0 installer bundles and installs this automatically. If you still see this error:

  1. Download NovaBridgeVPN-Setup-v1.1.0.exe (includes VC++ Runtime)
  2. Run the installer — it will install the runtime automatically
  3. If the error persists, visit aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe to install manually from Microsoft
  4. Restart your PC if prompted, then run the NovaBridgeVPN installer again

App installs but won't connect to VPN servers

If the app opens but cannot connect:

  1. Make sure OpenVPN was installed — check Start Menu → OpenVPN
  2. Try running NovaBridgeVPN as administrator (right-click → Run as administrator)
  3. Temporarily disable your firewall and try connecting
  4. Try a different server location from the server list
  5. Contact support at contact@novabridgevpn.com
